Andrew is an experienced criminal defense attorney who fights hard to get the best possible outcome for every one of his clients.

Andrew served for over five years as a Deputy State Public Defender in Colorado. He was originally placed in the Trinidad office, handling cases in Las Animas and Huerfano counties. After two years he moved north and joined the Greeley office, representing clients throughout Weld County. During his time as a public defender, Andrew defended clients charged with all levels of offenses, ranging from petty theft to homicide. He has secured favorable outcomes including dismissals, acquittals, and reduced charges and sentences through investigation, negotiation, pretrial litigation, jury trial, mitigation, and appeal.

As a public defender, Andrew presented trainings for other attorneys on topics including preliminary hearings, closing arguments, and restitution hearings. In 2022 he was named Bootcamper of the Year for his performance in the public defenders’ statewide intensive trial practice training program.

Andrew has focused on criminal defense since before he went to law school with a summer internship as an investigator with the Public Defender Service in Washington, D.C. During law school Andrew also interned with the Federal Defender Program for the Northern District of Illinois and the Alaska Public Defender Agency and represented clients through the University of Chicago Law School’s Federal Criminal Justice Clinic and the Criminal and Juvenile Justice Project. As a law student he received the Edwin F. Mandel Clinical Award and the James C. Hormel Public Service Award. He was a member of the Order of the Coif, a Kirkland & Ellis Scholar, and a Rubenstein Scholar.

In addition to his experience in trial courts, Andrew has also dedicated a significant portion of his training and practice to legal research and writing. As a law student, Andrew was a Comments Editor forĀ The University of Chicago Law Review and had his work published there and in The Yale Law Journal Forum. He spent a year clerking for Judge Stephen Reinhardt on the United States Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit, which oversees federal courts in Alaska, Arizona, California, Hawaii, Idaho, Montana, Nevada, Oregon, and Washington. As a public defender, Andrew frequently filed and litigated appeals and petitions for post-conviction relief on behalf of his clients.
